Football Tips

  • My first tip for value-bet comes from the world of Serie A where I’m going for the unfashionable Catania to avoid a home defeat to the old lady of Italian calcio, Juventus.

It may surprise a few to know that Sicilian club Catania have an unbeaten home run that dates back to December 2009, defeating the likes of Inter Milan, Fiorentina and Palermo along the way. Catania’s 4 home wins and 3 draws this season have seen them only concede a respectable 3 goals and I’m not convinced that the ageing Juventus front line hold the key to unlock what is seemingly a water tight defence. Juventus themselves are a mixed bag away from home this season and only appear to perform in what is perceived as the “bigger matches” as exemplified by wins away at AC Milan, Palermo and a draw at Inter. However, they tend to struggle with tag of being the Cialis 20mg favourites by having unimpressive draws against strugglers Bologna and Brescia and a dismal defeat to rock bottom Bari on the opening day of the campaign.

My prediction would be a low scoring draw or Catania to snatch all 3 points by the odd goal.

Paris Saint Germain V Stade Brestois 29 (Ligue 1)

Many of you unfamiliar with French football are probably even questioning the existence of the away side in this game. A team comparable to Blackpool who adopt a fearless and admirable all or nothing approach to the game provides the basis for why I have decided to go with the team otherwise known as Brest as my longshot of the week. This lot are as unpredictable as a Jabulani ball having 4 wins and 4 losses away from home this season. Back in the top flight of French football in almost 20 years hasn’t fazed the new boys (who currently lye in 3rd) and having already defeated the likes of Monaco and Bordeaux away will have them chomping at the bit to claim another major domestic scalp. PSG meanwhile are having a decent season when compared to the last half a decade of mid table misery but are still far from the finished article and will be lucky to end the season as high as their current 4thposition. If you look across any league in Europe you will be lucky to find the team in 3rd position 11/2 underdogs away against the team in 4th position.

Perhaps a game where the bookies may be going on reputation instead of results and performances so maybe a few quid on Brest is a good value bet.

Watford V Leicester City (npower Championship)

    15:00 GMT Saturday 4th December 2010

Leicester City’s Sven bandwagon is rapidly gathering momentum as the form table’s (last 6 results) top team make their ascent towards the Championships playoff positions. A rejuvenated Leicester have picked up 6 league wins in 10 under the guidance of the former England boss and can now boast a squad which oozes talent with players such as Roman Bedner, Curtis Davies, Chris Kirkland and Kyle Naughton brought in on loan. Watford are on their all too familiar slippery slope down the league after showing so much promise in the first couple of months of the season and are on a disastrous run of form gaining only 3 points from the last possible 18. Another contributing factor is Watford have only picked up 2 wins against strugglers Ipswich and Middlesbrough at vicarage road this campaign and they appear to play with more ambition on the road.

I think this is a match between two teams heading in the opposite direction and with BetBubbles offering the best price at 9/5 for a Leicester win, I feel this is a good little bet.
